Educational expeditions at the Brion Island Ecological Reserve

Located 16 km North-East of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Brion Island is a natural jewel in the heart of the St-Lawrence Gulf. Once settled for more than a century, the island holds the intriguing history of the Scottish families, Acadian fishermen and lighthouse guardians who lived there. Aside from these few distant imprints of civilization, this little territory possesses a large ecological diversity which bears witness to the primitive nature of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

An ecological reserve since 1988, Brion Island is only visited for scientific or educational purposes. The Quebec Ministry of the Environment, proprietor and administrator of all ecological reserves, has issued an educational permit to Vert-et-Mer so that we may offer professional lodging and education services which promote the Leave No Trace ethic, on this isolated territory. Thus, in order to minimize our impact on the area, our educational expeditions are only offered to small groups. Our team warmly welcomes you to a memorable encounter with the elements. However, we must have Mother Nature’s approval to have access to the island. A light western wind can delay departures and returns. In order to get there, you will need time and availability. Hence the trip will last from 2 to 4 days depending on the weather…
